The Ashenfelter 8K
Classic (A8K) is a world-class championship road race
(which also happens to be open to runners, joggers and
walkers of every ability) that takes place through the
historic, gas-lamp lit Borough of Glen Ridge, New
Jersey. The race honors resident Horace Ashenfelter who
won the Steeple Chase event at the 1952 Olympics in
Helsinki, Finland. The race is produced by the Glen
Ridge Educational Foundation, a non-profit fundraising
organization in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Since its
inception, the A8K Classic has donated over $100,000 in support of the Glen
Ridge High School.
